New Product: OTT Orpheus Mini Groundwater Pressure & Temperature Sensor with Integrated Logger

Hach Environmental's new OTT Orpheus Mini Pressure & Temperature sensor with integrated logging capabilities is specifically designed for groundwater level monitoring.

This new instrument brings Hach's reputation for innovative products to groundwater monitoring. The unit is versatile enough to be used for both long-term deployments and short-term, high-frequency pump tests. Plus, this groundwater level monitor features industry leading accuracy, and is truly easy to use.

The easy-to-use design features easy access from the well cap to the infrared interface, batteries and desiccant - there are no tools required, and no need to pull the cable and access the sensor directly. Contact gauge measurements can also be made for reference while the unit is deployed - also with no need to pull the cable. Logging runs can be set up and data downloaded using OTT Hydras 3 software or a PDA with OTT Hydras 3 Pocket software.

The instrument's accuracy is enhanced by a ceramic pressure cell that fits in a one-inch pipe. Ceramic pressure cells have proven to be the most robust pressure sensor available, with accuracy that does not drift as with piezoresistive sensors, since it doesn't deform over time. Compensation for temperature and barometric pressure and water density are automatic when taking water level measurements.

The Orpheus Mini features a robust construction to ensure a long, reliable life. Hermetically sealed electronics withstand the harshest environments and the Kevlar-reinforced cable will not stretch, even at lengths up to 200 meters. Off-the-shelf alkaline batteries provide 18 months of power, while lithium batteries are good for five years.
