Establishing communications between
your PC and the multiprobe.
Click
Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to Communications,
and then click HyperTerminal.
The HyperTerminal screen opens.
Double-click Hypertrm.exe.
The Connection Description opens.
Type any name (i.e. Hydrolab), select an icon, and then press OK.
Select the correct communications port (COM1, COM2, etc), and press
OK.
The communications port properties opens.
Set the properties to:
Bits per second 19200
Data bits 8
Parity none
Stop bits 1
Flow control Xon/Xoff
Press OK.
The HyperTerminal blank screen opens.
Select File and Properties in the HyperTerminal menu.
Select the Settings tab.
Press OK from the ANSI drop-down.
Connect the multiprobe to the designated port with the interface
cable.
Use a calibration cable (P/N 013470) or an external power adapter
(P/N 013170).
The multiprobe and the PC can automatically initiate communications.
If so, the header and Main Menu is displayed followed by real-time
data.
If the multiprobe and the PC do not initiate communications automatically,
select Disconnect from the HyperTerminal menu bar. The Disconnecticon
is shown as a phone with a lifted receiver. After clicking Disconnect,
the lower left corner of the HyperTerminal screen displays Disconnected.
Select Call or Connect.
The multiprobe connects and the header information displays followed
by real-time data.
Access is restricted to HL, Login, Setup, Calibrate, and Files. Access
is determined by multiprobe defaults at start up.
Note: Save the session when you exit HyperTerminal. This saves
the assigned name, the assigned icon, and the communications port
settings.
